Trump is disgraceful. His presence in a disaster area likely impeded cleanup efforts and rescue/recovery missions. There’s so much security involved in a high ranking (I use the term loosely) official getting to a disaster site. He’s just showing his face there to prove that Biden and Harris don’t care. Biden is the one in charge, the guy who can offer resources to help. And Franklin Graham has no business being there either.

Right! Kamala made a few appearances but also said she would likely stay out of the way and allow rescue crews to do their jobs. Trump is a selfish, selfish evil man.

If Donnie dunno how to act at THE CEMETERY, why would his handlers set their snitch up for another paper towel & sharpie scene 🎬… And if he’s so damn rich & good at business then he should shell outta his own pocket for the Dirty South. … But hey. Donnie’s just a broke ass snitch. Everybody knows the only question is … Can Donnie escape to sum raggedy ass Confederate grave or will he rot in his own confinement?

Fuck Trump! Fuck Franklin Graham! Fuck the corporate media! The President did what the President is supposed to do when a disaster happens. Trump is exploiting the situation for his own purposes. I'm sick and tired of this bullshit!!😡😡🤬🤬

Me too--and I am even more tired of idiots BUYING it--damn what do they think they will get from Trump that is so important that they are willing to check their brains at the door and disavow all measure and manner of self-respect.

Other than out of self interest Trump has never given a damn about anyone. Ever.

Meanwhile his circus is blocking deliveries of much needed goods for photo ops. With chicken nuggets he’s tossing to those humans who constitute his idea of ‘the peasants’.

Both President Biden and Kamala Harris have been in touch with the governors of the affected states, asking what they could do to help. They are both planning visits when things are not so chaotic. When that happens they will go down. The reasons for this should be clear to anyone who thinks about it: huge precautions to protect them, security details, etc. These entourages would just get in the way in an already chaotic situation. These people cannot act independently and just go by themselves. Don’t fall for Republican propaganda!

Alicia Norman: Trump was totally disgraceful with Puerto Rico.

When Puerto Rico needed the greatest help, all Trump was talking about was his invented need to collect I forget how many billions in supposed debt that Puerto Rico allegedly owed.

This was nothing less than gratuitous racist cruelty.

Here is a refresher on Trump's race-baiting on "debt" with hurricane distressed Puerto Rico:

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/10/23/trump-puerto-rico-debt-932520

Here is what the article said:

"“The people of Puerto Rico are wonderful, but the inept politicians are trying to use the massive and ridiculously high amounts of hurricane/disaster funding to pay off other obligations,” Trump wrote online. “The U.S. will NOT bail out long outstanding & unpaid obligations with hurricane relief money!”

"It is unclear what the president was immediately referring to, but Trump has regularly railed against Puerto Rican officials, attempting to shift the blame after his administration was criticized for its relatively sluggish response to last year’s Hurricane Maria.

"According to The Associated Press, an official helping oversee the U.S. island territory’s finances said on Monday that Puerto Rico likely will receive $20 billion more than initial estimates of federal relief, making the total amount $82 billion.

"Natalie Jaresko, executive director of a federal control board overseeing Puerto Rico’s finances, said the funds will help the island’s struggling economy, according to the AP. Puerto Rico is more than $70 billion in debt."

I cannot imagine how it felt to be on one's knees from hurricane destruction and the President of the United States railing on collecting $70 Billions -- with the economy in the Territory destroyed from tremendous forces of nature.

Trump was trying to blackmail them. That's what he does. Like his call to Ukraine and withholding the military aid (while probably also getting kickbacks from Putin). Wouldn't be surprised if he was dipping into the funds himself, like he did to his charities and is currently doing to the RNC. He's a thief.

"we are all Americans and when we need help, it shouldn't be about who gets what and how or why--we should help! Period!" Any decent human being would believe this sentiment. At least Kemp didnt play along. It's all so exhausting...and Dump is a petulant child who isnt being held to account for his dishonesty and BS. I'm counting the days till he's in prison...

The media is whitewashing Trump, they give him a free pass like no one else ! It's like the mainstream media is on his payroll. It really puzzles me, How Trump can have such a hold on people, it's almost supernatural, I think we should get the idea that Trump is the antichrist going, he certainly checks the boxes and how can that be spun into a good thing?

I think we are in for a rough ride even if Trump loses. His dumbass followers think he is the second coming, I can't even imagine how he has managed to buffalo the mainstream media but his followers think he is god, I think he needs to be called out as the antichrist.

BTW, just in case no one is paying attention, Trump is a racist piece of shit, his whole MAGAT movement is based in racism and white supremacy... do not forget who the people who follow him really are, just because they don't wear white robes doesn't mean we don't know what they represent but the real insult is that this is just a ploy to suck in White Christian Nationalists and make them mailuable to do the bidding of the oligarchs who are manipulating this whole movement!

These people want to take us back to a modern equivalent to medieval serfdom, the oligarchs are buying up all the housing, land, and raising prices on everything. They intend to capitalize everything, I'll be surprised if air becomes something they can capitalize on.

Don't forget, our grandchildren's lives and freedom depend on stopping this insane movement !

I remember Katrina and how Bushy fucked that up big time. There was actually a photo of him flying over New Orleans and seeing the disaster and I believe continuing on to his home in Texas. As for the fugly orange asshole, he can shut the fuck up. Biden has done the best he can with all the opposition from republicans.

We who despise Socialism without knowing what the word means do know what good parents do. They care for their children and they show their children what good care looks like by taking care of others.

We cannot run across the country to care for those affected by catastrophic weather or events so we have collectively decided to organize and fund National organizations to perform the needed tasks in those events. FEMA and all State efforts are done “on behalf of the American people “ and are viewed around the world as a minimal social response to help others in times of disaster.

There are no political gains here.

And you just described socialism. When people organize and contribute to their mutual good for things a individual cannot afford or handle such as infrastructure, schools, hospitals/Medicare Medicaid, Social Security, and of course Disaster Aid. All things that Republican leaders despise and wish to eliminate per Project 2o25.

But to that end, NC is still considered a red state and Cooper has had to battle Republican-led legislature to get anything done in his state...

Yes, unfortunately it is a barely red leaning state that NC Republicans have gerrymandered into a supermajority, and our less than worthless Supreme Court interfered with attempts to rectify that. Still, Cooper's been elected twice, so it gives me hope for the fall. They keep teasing us every year since 2008.
