It’s amazing how MAGA are seemly concerned that this wasn’t an impartial decision, while ignoring the fact that Clarence Thomas is allowed to rule on the immunity case and Aileen Cannon is presiding over the documents case. 🤔

Right! This is why I don't take any MAGA concern seriously.

Glad you wrote your perspective on this. I am so relieved. These MAGA idiots will never understand that LAW is LAW. I dont give a damn who Fani slept with. The Trump Cult continues to exhibit no intellect and no decency. History wont be kind to these morons. GO FANI! Nail his ass!!!

I watched Joy Reid (MSNBC) tonight. What assafee did to DA Willis is WAY BEYOND EVIL. Forcing Asst. DA Wade out ("it's either you or him"! -- there IS no such law!); essentially saying "this whole think stinks of lies" in his final two words; "suggesting" to the GA BAR and the GA repugnicant Legislator that THEY go after her in ways that he can't; and living up to his credentials as a card-carrying member of the disgusting Federalist Fascist Society where all "the worst people" go. I am FURIOUS with him!!!

Some MAGAts understand full well that the law doesn't stand with their führer and it's because they believe he's owed special treatment Rather than equal treatment. They don't care about fairness - only that they can continue to hold onto control that they don't deserve.

Expand full comment
author

Agreed--and they feel by some kind of proxy or weird osmosis they are benefitting from his special treatment, when they are simply slipping further down the rung. Just dumb.

Expand full comment

It's dumb and foolish to the point that they choose to ignore the reality that they're making their lives today than four years ago and just getting worse by embracing lies, distortions, and delusions.

Right--how can they even ask the question of if we are better off than 4 years ago. Yes. Fuck yes! How brain washed are these people? We were fighting over hand sanitizer and toilet paper 4 years ago.

Honestly, regardless of affiliation, the American people may be unified in going full French Revolution on the current government. The two tier justice system on full display while monopolies grow, shrinkflation, police brutality, no healthcare, and the one morsel of joy the starving masses had in tik tok they take away…”let them eat cake” comes to mind…

I emailed my Rep today and told him how I felt, might have called him a shmuck, and said I’d rather vote for ISIS. I’m with you girl, tired of the BS and a country with leadershit whose only goal is self-enrichment, and abandoning hundreds of millions of Americans.

I see a double standard at play. Had the lead prosecutor been a man,and had a relationship with a female employee, it would barely make the news. It’s a huge overplay to attack a woman the way they did. And the unspoken implication that the woman would not be able to remain objective. 😡

He's being eaten as well because he has strapped himself into a financial bind. If I understand correctly, he's almost in as much financial trouble as Trump, Bannon and Giuliani. Somehow, Meadows, Bolton, and Kelly have managed to come out of that administration relatively unscathed. The worst part about Meadows, Bolton, and Kelly is that Meadows is tied in with the Heritage Foundation who is behind Project 2025.

Btw it would be a good idea if you haven't checked it out already to look at Agenda 47. I swear what happened at the RNC was Trump's kristallnacht and the rest of Agenda 47 is the rest of his pogroms. I agree with others who say his use of Nazi/fascist language is No accident.

My brother’s hair was on fire when this all started and I told him to calm the fuck down. It’s a huge nothing burger. I knew she’d be ok. And she was.

And the hearing where they tried to defame her and instead she mopped the fucking floor with them was pure pleasure to watch. JFC that woman is a fucking bad ass. Trump is scared. And he should be, I wouldn’t want to be on her bad side.

Just the “I don’t fuck around” look on her face should terrify any defendant, especially the orange menace. Bruh is so fucked.

I wish I could like this 1,000 times. I adore Fani Willis and Letitia James. You too Alicia. Nathan Wade. I worry about these cool black women that stand up to Agent Orange for the rest of us.. I know some attorneys, and writers like the rough and tumble, but it has got to be extremely stressful what with trump’s band of loyalists harassing who resist him, out of their homes, disrupting their families, terrorizing them online with racist abuse (pics of nooses and gallows) We owe the people doing this brave work our undying support.

Thank you, Charlie. I agree, they forget the stress Fani was under. Death threats and the like. Having to move. Little wonder she wanted to get close to someone who understood the pressure to decompress. I am hoping she will have the ability to weather the coming storm in the months to come.

First off, Alicia, whatever you are going through on a personal level--i wish you all the best and all the healing, should it be needed.

Secondly, sure. This judge ruled the right way, but he was SUCH a dick about it! I'll still take the win, though.

The last thing I want to say is this--and I'm saying it as a white woman: Would they have put her through all of this--having her most intimate details exposed publicly--if she'd been white? THAT'S really been bothering me. It was embarrassing, and I feel really badly for her.

I'm sure she's ready to go--she was before all this bullshit--and I'm sure she's out for blood, and she should be. The whole thing is infuriating.

Alicia Norman: I am totally in agreement with you.

Even as a lawyer (retired), I am STEAMED at the nastiness and sordidness of voyeuristic attacks against an honorable and highly regarded prosecutor, Fani Willis, Esquire by a very despicable white-nationalist-right-wing through Orange-SNOUT. Especially when you consider the ENORMITY of the fascistic references mainstreamed by Orange-Pig -- "poison our blood".

It was revolting to see the pious utterances of the Trump attorneys in the face of his grift and fascistic rhetoric.

My beautiful, radiant wife, Nancy -- the Light-and-Love-of-My-Life, will travel soon with our well-loved Daughter to Budapest. I do expect beauty and high culture.

But I also know, and will say here, what I probably cannot say there: The fist of Victor Orban is the model the "MAGA" Steve Bannon and others want for America. So, I'll get a sample of the life they propose.

Meanwhile: As always, an excellent post by you, and I join you in being a real fan of Fani Willis, Esquire.

She represents the most realistic chance to obtain justice this summer.

Alicia Norman: Pictures: For sure!

The MAGA melt-down: Yes, we are winning!

Alicia, Remember this: Fani Willis, Esquire will win as a PERSON no matter the vicissitudes.

The prosecution of a former President of the United States has the potential to develop Fani Willis, Esquire into a leading jurist. Ms. Willis could be developing into a national leader in the future or an appellate court justice, with the potential for the U.S. Supreme Court.

The prosecution of a former leader of the Free World is a unique experience in the practice of law, and the trials will require her to controvert some of the most difficult issues in the law.

The same opportunity presents itself to any judge in a trial or appellate court and to the Justices in the Supreme Court.

Judges like Aileen Cannon are blowing an opportunity for tremendous intellectual growth.

America has had some of the leading jurists in the world with people like Felix Frankfurter, Benjamin Cardozo, and Thurgood Marshall.

The Trump cases give the trial lawyers and the judges the opportunity, should they avail themselves of it, to develop into jurists of tremendous intellectual stature.

It will be wonderful to follow the future career of Fani Willis, Esquire.

Here's hoping that the next filing out of this Court is revocation of the plea deal Chesebro received and additional charges for perjury. On a lighter note, Appeals Court denied Navarro stay and he should be reporting to a cushy FL prison early next week. What's really funny (IMO) is that tfg is asking people to buy the book Navarro wrote about the coup attempt, to help him with legal fees, the RNC used to buy most all of the RWNJ books to bump them up in "best seller" lists, but since tfg needs/wants all the RNC money for himself that'll be all the assist given to feckless idiot N. 💙
