Not to date myself, but I recall Sunday Morning Newspapers with what were called the funnies smack dab in the middle of them. As a girl, I would grab that giant pile of newsprint and eagerly pull them out for a read. Of course, Charles Schulz’s Peanuts and Brenda Starr were my faves.
Well, let’s bring that same feeling of anticipated fun and laughter back, shall we? Something comical for Sunday cuz we need it, in fact, I think I will make this my Sunday atheist ritual from now on. Find something fun, irreverent, and silly to share—blow off the steam of the week. Heading into the election this year is going to be a doozie, so we will need all the levity we can get.
I ran across this and nearly fell out of my chair—hilarious.

And, oh yeah—big reveal. I am an atheist. I hope that doesn’t make some of you head for the door. I was a Christian for 20 years and slowly began to feel alone in this universe. Long story. Tristan Vick details my deconversion in a book entitled “Beyond an Absence of Faith” found on Amazon.
I am not an anti-theist. Hardly. I immensely love anyone with a peaceful interpretation of their religion who extols its values. I hate fakers of any variety, such as the MTGs and Boeberts, so I will call them out for their false application of the religion they profess to follow.
That said, I always get asked, “Well, what do you believe in?” as if the only thing a human can aspire to believe in is a god. Oprah even said there is no way an atheist could experience awe. She would be surprised to find that atheists experience the same wide range of emotions every other human being feels.
Atheism is simply a lack of belief in deities. As was once explained, take all the gods, from Odin, the Shiva, to Zeus—I decided to believe in one less. It’s not even a lack of belief in the paranormal, which is merely an unexplained phenomenon.
It is just an observational worldview.
Beyond my shock and awe
I saw a double rainbow with my kiddos, and it was indeed awe-inspiring. For me, no gods were required.

I also believe in many things; the biggest among them—love. Some folks try to put that emotion down, claiming it is just a chemical reaction. I hate to tell these killjoys, but everything a human experiences is a chemical reaction. Rage, hate, joy, happiness, jealousy, exhilaration—the urge to eat and sleep. If we cast aside love because it is a chemical reaction, well, cast it all aside.
These cynics do not grasp that we are biochem machines; everything we experience is somehow essential to the species' survival. Besides, they do not question the existence of the human sex drive, only the human emotion that sometimes accompanies it.
Shove me in the shallow water before I get too deep
I say all that to say my Sunday and thoughts tend to be all over the place—so why not share an every Sunday post that laughs in the face of the insanity happening in the world and politics sphere?
I dare say we all deserve a few chuckles—don’t you?

Thanks guys!
Yes!!!! Loved your newsletter!!!! Yes to the Sunday funnies!!! Yes, I'm an atheist too!! (I also accept the term "secular humanist" re myself) Yes, I too spent waaayy too long in church and thus long enough to spot hypocrisy from miles away. (There's no hate like christian "love".) Yes, I too regularly experience wonder, awe, delight - all of the human emotions - without a diety. Yes, I also believe in love, kindness, generosity, hope, logic, empathy, integrity, honesty... and so much more. Many of the most moral and ethical people I've known were atheists... they were moral, ethical because this life is what we have. Humanity is what we have. This world, this Earth is what we have. Let's be here now. Oh, and bring on the funnies!! Thanks for a great newsletter!!!! 💚💚
Did anyone besides me take the Sunday funnies in color, and press Silly Putty on them to copy? Not sure if one can still find Silly Putty, but if so - Try it. You'll thank me later. Thanks for Va-a-ape Ho Alicia. Hilarious, as was MyLumpyPillow. Watched most of your pod. You are stunningly beautiful :)
