The Donkey is kicking the Elephant's ass tonight
KY Dem Gov Andy Beshear Wins Reelection and New Hampshire: Democrat Paige Beauchemin has won a special election! WOOT!
I wonder which straw broke the camel’s back for America?
Tubberville holding up almost 450 military appointments?
The Matt Gatez-inspired Speaker debacle?
Evil Nega Mr. Rogers aka Mike Johnson’s chilling poise?
Nancy Mace and the Scarlet Letter A nonsense?
Marjorie Tylor Greene holding up nudes of Biden’s son?
Lauren Boebert’s X-Rated Beetlejuice Bonanza?
Whatever caused the tide to turn I am grateful, as we are potentially seeing the fallout of an America that is finally fed up enough to kick Republican legislators to the curb.
About time! A lot of this is Lady Liberty’s fault too—how long can you give your spoiled bratty child a binky while chasting the good kid for never measuring up?
Democrats have always been there to mop up their more evil siblings’ mess and their enabling created awful democracy-destroying monstrosities. Now, filled with hubris and too much power, they were hoping for the same bailout, and under Hakeem Jeffries, it just didn’t happen.
With the mask off, for once, America got to see how bloated and narcissistic the GOP has become and they were aghast!
If the trend holds (fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that it does) we may look at sweeping Repugs out to sea once and for all in a 2024 Blue tsunami blowout to rival all others.
A huge win for Democrats
As per Ron Filipkowski on Media Touch, KY Andy Beshear handily won Reelection—WOOT!
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear won reelection today over Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
This campaign featured two diametrically opposed approaches. Daniel Cameron was endorsed by Donald Trump, made that endorsement a central feature of his campaign, and talked about national issues. Andy Beshear never mentioned Joe Biden and focused exclusively on state and local issues.
Beshear demonstrated the winning formula for Democrats in southern states. He refused to concede the rural, non-college voters - spending a great deal of time in the small towns in the eastern part of the state and speaking to the issues that mattered in their everyday lives. He campaigned on his record as a good-government moderate and did well in counties dominated by Mitch McConnell's machine.
In county after county that Trump won by over 20 points, Beshear either won them outright or finished very close. He consistently outperformed his own results when he won in 2019. Kentuckians in both parties clearly approved of his leadership over the last four years.
We were already overperforming!
Let’s face it, even before tonight’s elections, which appear poised to resoundingly spank Dark Dumbo on its rear, we were killing it!
In August, ABC News reported:
An analysis from FiveThirtyEight found that in 38 special elections held so far this year, Democrats have outperformed the partisan lean -- or the relative liberal or conservative history -- of the areas where the races were held by an average of 10%, both romping in parts of the country that typically support the party while cutting down on GOP margins in red cities and counties, too.
For instance, the Democratic candidate in a Wisconsin State Assembly special election last month lost by just 7 points in an area where Republicans have a 22-point edge and where Trump beat Biden by almost 17 points in 2020.
In a New Hampshire special election in May for a state House seat, the Democrat won by 43 points, far beyond the party's estimated 23-point edge in the district.
"I think when you when you look at things like this, one special election doesn't mean much on its own. But when you start to see real consistency, it can certainly become predictive of the next election cycle," said Ben Nuckels, a Wisconsin Democratic strategist who consulted on Protasiewicz's campaign.
Ha! Take THAT double evil Nega Mr. Rogers!
We are killing it all over the place:
You guys, stay tuned and keep your hopes high—there may be a fight in the old girl yet!
DAILY KOS ELECTION COVERAGE
UPDATE: Tuesday, Nov 7, 2023 · 8:21:02 PM EST · Steve Singiser
New Hampshire: Democrat Paige Beauchemin has won a special election for Hillsborough County's 3rd state House District in NH (aka Nashua Ward 4), 59-38.
This is a hold for the Democrats and keeps them within striking range of the majority in this nearly-tied legislature. And the NH House being the NH House, the probability of several resignations between now and next November is not small.
