Yes, I am being a bit childish here, but even at my worst, I couldn’t stoop to the preschool levels of Gaetz, Boebert, and Majorie Taylor Greene! In any case, Bill Palmer called it. This was all GOP theater, no different than the impeachment hearing, oh excuse me, impeachment inquiry, because they never had the votes, and there was no way they would win this.
Republicans will do what they always do after this political loss—bluster, posture, act as if they won, wait for the public to buy the bluster and posturing, and later invent a win that did not happen. Watch. Three months from now, talk to a low-information voter on either side of the aisle and ask them if the shutdown occurred.
Watch and see how many say it did.
You’ll be astounded. The Republicans are very, very good at this.
This is why truth matters—this is why correcting the record matters. Don’t let people get away with spreading disinformation and rewriting history; whenever we can, let’s show people the evidence of what transpired so voters have accurate information heading into the polling booths.
Republicans are weaklings
The only reason the voting public believes Republicans are stronger than Democrats is because Republicans talk loudly while producing nothing. Dems work hard but fail to trumpet their wins. The public only hears the noise and fails to see the work done on their behalf.
This is the root of both-side-rism—the idea that both sides are equally wrong because both sides fail to get anything done.
We can change that perception with calmly presented evidence and facts!
Not too surprisingly, Matt Gatez is promising to make a motion for Kevin McCarthy to vacate. Have at it, Gaetz—I would love to see Hakeem Jeffries with the gavel.
