I was retaliated against and silenced
They forced me into a settlement, but I want to speak out
I didn’t recognize how much the event impacted me until I started having panic attacks around the time I had been “laid off” with so-called severance in November of 2022.
I wanted to move past it, get another job. Not think about it. But it’s just too there.
I was effectively silenced by accepting my work severance, as the agreement forbade me from mentioning the company by name. When I spoke to lawyers (before signing the agreement), I was told that all indicators were that I was retaliated against. Still, I did not have enough substantial evidence, like, say, a video of someone screaming the N-word at me, to bring the case to court.
In other words, they wouldn’t take the case on if there was any gray wiggle room. The problem is microaggressions and discrimination aren’t always overt or done in ways that can be recorded.
I detail what happened in the video below. I tried, but writing the entire thing out was too painful—it felt like reliving it.
Someday those bullies will have to answer when they look in the mirror.
I'm so very sorry you had to go through that🫂 I love you 💕 Stay strong💪 I couldn't be there for you then but I can be there for you now. I detest bullies. I had to work under one, too. She was so awful one of the customers chewed her out. Lol. I wish you all the best🤗
