Sadly, I’m becoming more and more cynical about the human race and I doubt that racism will ever be eliminated, especially with religions underwriting it.

And let's not forget the power structure. Too much money to be made.

Oh no, I like him. Don't tell me he's turned out to be an asshole.

No, he's just trying to make things balanced in his view—the sad thing is sometimes in the attempt, far too many well-meaning people miss the forest for the trees.

Ah. This "fair and balanced" and "both sides deserve a hearing" is bullshit. When one side is fighting so everyone gets a vote and the other side is taking those rights away, they are NOT equivalent, and we don't need to try and make sure they are even. This is partially how we got into this mess in the first place. Call it out, don't compromise with evil. Period.

Period. It usually comes from a place of wanting to be fair, but we don't need to be fair with evil.

Also Josh, who while more thoughtful and articulate than most comedians, is still a comic doing a routine. He’s entertaining people, and part of that routine is being accessible to an audience - and a mixed race audience at that. He is very specifically talking about his personal reaction, which he then sends up a bit, as if to point out how ridiculous it is. He can’t make his comments sound like a lecture or he’d be booed off stage.

I’d argue that by comparing ‘sunscreen’ to ‘not getting a loan’ Josh knew exactly what he was doing and was subtly undermining the premise of ‘black people can too be racist’ within the bounds of his medium.

I realise this was not the point of your post, but from how I viewed the clip, using this as an example of ‘this black person agrees with me black people can be racist’ is reaching pretty hard.

I mean, Clarence “Comstock Act” Thomas is black, and I’m sure he’d agree with any number of vile statements. Candace Owens is black and no one is claiming black culture demands accepting Macron’s wife is transgender. 8% of black women voted for Trump. Using black person said X is a ridiculous argument in this day and age.
